English has trialled particularly well in the lead-up to her competitive return and currently leads 2016 Challenge Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au at a quote of $4 for success.

Immediately stamping herself as a filly to follow when debuting to racing in January 2015 for success in a Kembla Grange minor over 1000m, English continued to impress in taking out the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) before running a close second to stable mate Vancouver in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

Having returned to the paddock after placing sixth in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) during The Championships, English missed the entirety of Spring Carnival but will be tough to beat from barrier 6 in the Challenge Stakes with only 54kgs in tow.

Ball Of Muscle is a noted pace horse, should have no issue finding the front barrier 1 and represents terrific value for money at current $4.80 Challenge Stakes odds.

Posting an impressive eight wins and nine minors through seventeen career starts so far, Ball Of Muscle capped an impressive autumn and winter campaign in 2015 with success in the talent-rich Group 2 QTC Cup (1200m) in late May.

Resuming in spring for third in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m), the Dubawi gelding progressed to second in The Shorts before placing second to Buffering in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1100m) on October 2nd.

Returning to the paddock after placing third in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1000m), Ball Of Muscle will be partnered by Tim Clark in the Challenge Stakes, who has ridden the gelding in two strong trials in the lead-up to his first-up run on Saturday.

Shiraz is yet to herald much interest in 2016 Challenge Stakes betting markets but remains outright third favourite for success at generous $5 odds.

Posting ten wins and three minors through only seventeen career starts so far, Shiraz returned in spring in typically smart form; winning his first four starts including both the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) and Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m).

Running third in the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) on September 19th, the Zariz gelding returned to the paddock after finishing sixth in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) on October 10th, Shiraz completed a smart trial at Warwick Farm on February 22nd and appears primed for a successful return on Saturday.

Speak Fondly has continued to firm from opening Challenge Stakes odds of $9 to currently register as clear $7 market mover, while three-year-old Kinglike represents excellent value at a $9 quote.
